To configure a static IP address assignment

1. Do one of the following:
   • If the remote access server is part of a Windows Server 2003 domain:
   1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
   2. In the console tree, click Users.

      Where?

      • Users
   3. In the details pane, right-click a user name, and then click Properties.
   • If the remote access server is a stand-alone server (not part of a domain):
   1. Open Computer Management.
   2. In the console tree, click Users.

      • System Tools
      • Local Users and Groups
      • Users
   3. In the details pane, right-click a user name, and then click Properties.
2. On the Dial-in tab, select the Assign a Static IP Address check box, and then type the static IP address for this user.

• The server running Routing and Remote Access will provide a dynamic IP address to a user if the static address you specify is not valid or is already in use by another user.
