To configure a static IP address assignment
- Do one of the following:
- If the remote access server is part of a Windows Server 2003 domain:
- Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
- In the console tree, click Users.

- In the details pane, right-click a user name, and then click Properties.
- If the remote access server is a stand-alone server (not part of a domain):
- Open Computer Management.
- In the console tree, click Users.

- Local Users and Groups
- Users
- In the details pane, right-click a user name, and then click Properties.
- On the Dial-in tab, select the Assign a Static IP Address check box, and then type the static IP address for this user.

The server running Routing and Remote Access will provide a dynamic IP address to a user if the static address you specify is not valid or is already in use by another user.
